<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - On your second day in Zion, start the day early by getting to the park shortly after opening. We quickly found parking and were one of the first in line for the second shuttle to the Narrows trailhead. I think we timed this perfectly! By the time we got on trial, the sun started to come out so it wasn’t too cold to handle the ice-cold water. It was also still early enough to not be too busy and crowded with people. We stopped for lunch on the trail halfway. By the time we reached the end for us, it was so busy we were constantly stopping (it also smelled of urine- ew!) We hiked a bit past the famous Wall Street area, which was a little over 2 miles on the river trail and over 3 miles from the trailhead.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - If you’d rather be out in nature, you can visit Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It is only a 30-minute drive outside of the city. You can see impressive red rocks, explore fun hiking trails, or even just drive the 13-mile scenic route that winds through the park. For an even more adventurous time, there are many exciting excursions to choose from, like an exciting desert ATV tour.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - After dragging yourself away from Bryce’s picture-perfect trails, drive to Zion and check-in to your accommodations. We chose an adorable glamping bungalow at Zion Wildflower Resort in Virgin, UT. This place offers glamping in the Oregon trail style covered wagon, tent/yurt glamping, and private bungalows. The bungalows were the perfect place for our visit to Zion! The resort provided a glamping vibe, but with the bungalow we were able to have a king-size bed, large shower, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, and private deck with Adirondack chairs overlooking stunning desert views. We could also watch the campfire and listen to the live music- a total vibe!</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - After the hike, we made our way back to the other side of Zion to pick up our gear for hiking the Narrows from Zion Outfitter. Zion Outfitter allows you to pick the Narrows equipment either the morning of your hike or the evening prior from 4pm until 8pm. We had an early morning permit for our Narrows hike, so we opted to get our gear the night before and I recommend doing this. It made it a bit easier to get our gear ready and bags packed for an early morning start.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - After checking in and dropping off your luggage, make your way to Bryce to hike your first trail! We chose to hike the Queen’s Garden Navajo Loop Combination. This is a total of 2.9 miles and is estimated to take 2-3 hours. I was getting nervous that we wouldn’t finish before sunset, but we made it with plenty of time- even with stopping to take all the pictures. This was an incredible hike. It offers a bit of a challenge and the most amazing views (i.e. the theme of this trip!).</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - Even if you don’t like to gamble, there are plenty of fun things to do in Vegas! If it’s your first time, you should site-see on the Vegas strip and/or downtown on Freemont Street. The casinos, fun hotels and Vegas sign are just a few must-see spots. There is a ton of great shopping, spas, pools or pool party bars, and so many great restaurants and shows (think Cirque du Soleil, a concert or comedy show, or a fancy dinner and show at the Mayfair Supper Club)!</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - After checking in, head over to Zion to get in your first hike. Since it will be in the afternoon, expected it to be busy and parking limited. If you can get parking, get started by hiking one of the great trails that start at the Visitor’s Center, so you don’t have to worry about catching the shuttle or making it back before dark. It was crazy packed, so we chose to drive to the North side of Zion National Park and visited Kolob Canyons. We chose to hike the Timber Creek trail- it is a short 1 mile (1.6 km) out and back trail with pretty panoramic views of the Kolob Canyons. Being only 1 mile, I was worried it wouldn’t be worth it- I was very wrong! It was a great short hike with beautiful sights.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - This is an easy 2.5-ish hour drive. We returned our rental car and stopped at Fedex to ship home souvenirs that wouldn’t fit in our checked luggage. It was then my mission to spend the rest of the day at the Bellagio pool, ordering overpriced cocktails. On our final night, we treated ourselves to a fancy dinner. Again, there are so many great options to choose from in Vegas- I love watching Travel Ruby on YouTube for the latest Vegas news and hot-spots.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - Once you get your car, you can load up and start driving to Bryce Canyon. If you are interested in learning fun facts about Utah and the parks along the way, I recommend using the GuideAlong app (f/k/a GypsyGuide). This app offers guided routes and location-specific commentary as you drive. We used this during our trip, and have also used in when visiting the Hawaiian islands.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - Epic Road Trip: Vegas, Bryce & Zion - If you leave Vegas in the morning, you should arrive in Utah shortly after lunch. Upon arrival we checked in to a super cute cottage at Mountain Ridge Cabins and Lodging in Hatch, UT. This place offered cute, nice rooms at very affordable prices. The rooms also included a refrigerator, coffee maker and a microwave, which was very helpful with limited restaurant and dining options.</image:title>

<image:caption>This is a small space, making for a cozy and intimate dinner experience. You must make reservations and they book up fast. The food is divine, and the service is top notch. They also have exciting menu items – see pic below of “s’mores” dessert that featured parmesan ice cream and was lit on fire tableside – unexpected and delicious! I recommend the Causa Trio for appetizer and the Mar y Tierra or the rack of lamb for dinner. The Cuke mimosa was also refreshing and so good. Don’t leave without trying a dessert and don’t be scared to try something new like parmesan ice cream.</image:caption>

<image:title>Travel - 5 Reasons I wouldn’t cruise Hawaii with Norwegian Cruise Lines - 1. Cost. Everything is expensive these days, so when you spend thousands on a dream vacation, you want it to be worth the price tag. We chose the NCL Pride of America cruise because it offers passengers the opportunity to visit all of Hawaii’s main islands, Honolulu, Maui, Hilo/Kona and Kaua’i over 7 days. For a balcony room in March, our cruise fare for two people with tax was almost $6,500. While this price may be comparable to other cruise rates, the actual cruise was not worth this price. Not including airfare, this price tag averaged over $1,000 for room and board, some food, and travel between islands. As I elaborate below, the Pride of America did not live up to this value. In addition to the cost of the cruise, other expenses included hotel stays before and after boarding and debarking the ship in Honolulu; excursions; car rentals; and food while not on the ship. I would have rather used the $1,000/day price tag on nice hotels and good local food and attractions.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - 5 Reasons I wouldn’t cruise Hawaii with Norwegian Cruise Lines - 5. Time. Seven days may seem like a long vacation, but it really was just enough for a sample of the islands- almost like island tapas, if you will. We spent the longest amount of time in Honolulu- the cruise port- staying extra days before and after the cruise. This gave us time to visit Pearl Harbor National Memorial, Diamond Head State Park, Kualoa Ranch, Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden and get in a surf lesson at Big Wave Dave’s in Waikiki Beach. We also had overnight ports in Maui and Kaua’i. While we definitely jam-packed adventures in each of these places, we also wished we’d had more time in all of the above. We loved getting a sample “taste” of all the islands, but a day or two in each is not enough to truly experience all the great things they have to offer.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - 5 Reasons I wouldn’t cruise Hawaii with Norwegian Cruise Lines - 3. Missing Ports. As with any cruise, if visiting a tender port in rough seas, you may not be able to visit the island. While we do understand there is nothing that can be done with weather, we were incredibly disappointed when NCL decided to cancel our day in Kona. This cancellation caused us to lose hundreds for a kayaking excursion and the car rental we had planned on the island. If you booked an excursion through the cruise, you were able to receive a refund. We did not book through NCL because they did not have any kayaking excursions that would allow us to visit the famous Captain Cook monument. For us, this was a must-do on our Kona list. Had we been staying on the island, we would have been able to visit Hilo and Kona and not miss out on our excursion.</image:title>

<image:title>Travel - 5 Reasons I wouldn’t cruise Hawaii with Norwegian Cruise Lines - The best thing about this trip was introducing us to the magic of the islands. I don’t recommend the NCL Pride of America, but Hawaii is a must-visit.</image:title>

We installed the trim using an 18-gauge Brad Nailer (like this one)- as the name suggests, this uses 18-guage nails. #7 Install Corner Trim Next, we installed ¾” inch corner trim primed molding. These were also installed using the 18-gauge brad Nailer.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home & Garden - DIY Ikea Hack Bookshelf Wall - # 5 Optional: Light Switch Cover Disclaimer- You should work with a licensed electrician to make sure any work with a light switch is done to code! Instead of moving or losing our light switch, we loosely installed the backer board over our Amazon Alexa flip light switch. Alex expertly measured the location of the light switch and cut out that area from the back board of the bookshelf. Using small white cabinet screws, he then re-attached the cut piece of particle board over the light switch. This should loosely cover the light switch. Using the Alexa light, we don’t have to use the switch to turn the lights on or off. But if needed, you can still turn the light on or off by pushing the board.</image:title>

For cucumber, tomatoes or zucchini, give them 2-3 feet from any other plant in the ground or a raised bed, or plant them in their own very large planter.</image:title>

<image:title>Home & Garden - Start Your Summer Garden - Third, plant with purpose.</image:title>
<image:caption>Aside from harvesting, I think planting is the most fun part of gardening, but there are a few things you should consider before planting. How big will the plant get? How much space does it need in the ground? Does it grow well with other plants? For my first raised bed garden in PA, I did a ton of research about what grows well together (peppers, tomatoes, cucumber- Yes! But tomatoes with corn or broccoli? No!). What I did not think enough about, however, was the spacing. In a very short amount of time, my garden was overgrown, and I had to quickly remove and re-plant things before they completely took over the rest of my garden (see pic to the right for reference!).</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>

<image:title>Home & Garden - Start Your Summer Garden - 1. Cucumbers and tomatoes both grow great in the summer, but they are [usually] vining and will need a cage or trellis to provide support and keep the veggies off the ground.</image:title>

<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/6835fa2a14ba3e2a5eb3fa4c/5498c705-29fc-40cc-8e36-6e366cbd1be1/IMG_6738.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Home & Garden - Start Your Summer Garden - 3. Mint is so easy to grow and great to have on hand for recipes (i.e. fresh mojitos or this mint pea salad) – BUT it will take over your planter, garden or yard. I planted mint behind our house in PA after learning that it is a natural remedy to keep mice away (very important when you live on a farm!)</image:title>
<image:caption>In the shortest amount of time, this went from 1 small plant to an entire stretch of mint bushes. This may not be what you want, but I was crushed to leave these beauties.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home & Garden - Start Your Summer Garden - Second, decide where and how you want to garden.</image:title>
<image:caption>Make sure the area gets a lot of natural sunlight. Decide whether you are going to garden in planter pots, beds or directly sow seeds or plants into the ground. I love gardening in raised beds for so many reasons! You can control the soil, better control pests, and move the plants. At our home in FL, we don’t really have soil- our yard is mainly sand- so raised beds are a must to provide a good soil base for our plants.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - My Newest Hobby: Golf - When I was asked to bring a marker to my lesson, I thought they meant an actual marker to write down my scores (LOL). I soon learned that they meant a golf marker, which you use to mark the place of your ball when playing with others. After you have hit your balls on the green, the person whose ball is furthest out is supposed to go first. Everyone else marks their ball to save their place in case someone else hits their ball in the same line. There are so many cute golf ball marker options- hello, Etsy for very cute custom designs! I had a hard time deciding but went with a fun custom one to pay homage to Happy Gilmore and THIS set of three because they are so pretty. These are also magnetic, and you have the option to purchase them with a hat clip. I love the hat clip and being able to quickly attach/grab the magnetic marker from my hat without hunting for it!</image:title>

<image:title>Fitness - My Newest Hobby: Golf - Maybe one of my favorite purchases, I really wanted this bag from Sunday Golf- even if I could have just bought clubs that came with a bag. Buying a set that includes a bag is a great idea to potentially save money and get everything all at once. However, if you want a super cute bag, I highly recommend Sunday Golf. I bought the Loma Par 3 bag linked below and pictured right- it says it fits 4-6 clubs, but I was able to fit my full set. It is lightweight, has a stand and is super easy to carry around. It also has a handy Velcro strap for your glove and lots of great pockets for water, sunblock and all of my other accessories and personal items.</image:title>

<image:title>Fitness - Quick & Easy Fitness Fuel - 3. Carb snackies- Stroopwafels or Kind brownies</image:title>
<image:caption>Carbs are underrated and key to fitness fuel! So like my morning options, I also go for quick carbs before a workout at any other time of the day when I feel hungry or that I just haven’t eaten enough. My two favorite carb snacks are stroopwafels and Kind brownies. Both of these snacks often seem more like a sweet treat, but they provide a great quick option for carbs pre-workout. While processed, they have gluten and dairy free options and are low in added sugar. Pictured Right: The delicious not-so-healthy stroopwafel from the famous van Wonderen in Amsterdam- 10/10 recommend.</image:caption>

<image:caption>For a long run or workout I will take water in either this water bladder or curved bottle that fits into my running belt. Once a day, and sometimes two on extremely hot days, I also have an electrolyte packet. LMNT electrolyte packets are my favorite – watermelon or raspberry. They taste great and, for me, cure headaches, muscle cramps, and dehydration-induced stomach issues.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - Ways to Stay Motivated to Workout Consistently - Variety- In Exercise and Routine</image:title>
<image:caption>Enjoy a variety of fitness activities! I see the best results when I include a mix of workouts in my routine every week and the variety keeps things interesting. For my typical week, I run 2-3 days, Spin or bike one day, Pilates one day, and do a Street Parking WOD or Garmin strength work-out 2-3 days. My schedule changes weekly, but overall, I try to hit cardio, strength and mobility every week. Changing up the type of workout day to day helps keep motivation high.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - Ways to Stay Motivated to Workout Consistently - Have a Personal Goal</image:title>
<image:caption>Similar to signing up for a challenge to provide motivation, you can also do this by creating your own personal goal or challenge. This could be a personal goal to run a certain mile time, hit a certain weightlifting goal, do your first pull-up, or complete 100 workouts. Whatever the goal, a personal goal requires dedication and holding yourself accountable. Give yourself a deadline and share your goal with others to help with accountability and motivation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - Ways to Stay Motivated to Workout Consistently - Sign-up for a Challenge</image:title>
<image:caption>Nothing motivates me more than having to (*getting to*) train for a challenge! Most recently, I challenged myself to run my first half-marathon. The anticipation of the race motivated me to follow a half-marathon training program- I was so nervous about not being able to run 13.2 miles, I was committed to getting in all training runs. Training pushed me to run more miles than I ever have, or would have, had I not signed up for a race. Sign-up for a race or fitness challenge (giving yourself enough time to train) and use that as your fitness motivation. You’ll feel amazing once you complete the challenge!! Then pick another one .</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - Ways to Stay Motivated to Workout Consistently - Find a Friend</image:title>
<image:caption>Working out with others can be motivating and inspiring- I think this is especially true of a friend. When I am working out with my husband or a friend, I am motivated to show up and do my best! It can often be difficult to just show up at the gym or the workout class, but you will be much more likely to go and be motivated if you make plans with a friend. If you work out by yourself or don’t have any friends in class, you probably don’t care if you cancel your Pilates class at the last minute. But if you make plans and your friend is expecting you to show, you are going to show up. Aside from providing motivation to show up, working out with friends also motivates you to work harder!</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - Ways to Stay Motivated to Workout Consistently - Get Inspired</image:title>
<image:caption>When motivation is low, I find a lot of inspiration from listening or watching to athlete audiobooks, podcasts or YouTube videos. Watching other people work out or chase their fitness goals inspires me to chase my own. My current go-to vlogs for fitness inspiration à Lucy Charles-Barclay, Sally McRae, Lucy Davis, Buttery Bros and TeamRichey.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fitness - Ways to Stay Motivated to Workout Consistently - Have a back-up plan!</image:title>
<image:caption>They key to fitness consistency and progress is working out even when motivation is low. On the days when you are just not feeling it and do not want to work out, have quick and easy workouts ready to go. When you already don’t want to work out, the last thing you want to do is waste time and energy trying to decide what you should do. For this reason, I love having programming on hand. I have used Street Parking programming for over 5 years (#notsponsored) and love their “More Than Nothing” mentality. It is incredibly affordable online programming with thousands of workout options. On the days when I just need to do “More Than Nothing”, I pick a Street Parking workout. This may be the daily WOD, or one of many bodyweight workouts. They also have travel/hotel workouts that allow you to get in a great workout while travelling with no equipment (Pictured to the right- doing a Street Parking WOD on a cruise ship). Even if it is only 10-15 minutes, I always feel better after movement.</image:caption>

<image:caption>You will need 1 - 2 Boxes of Family Size Cook & Serve Jell-O Vanilla Pudding boxes. I say 1-2 because this depends on how many servings you want- or how big of a dish you use to make your banana pudding. I recommend NOT starting with too large a bowl or a trifle dish- you’ll find that you will only be able to fill half of it, or you’ll feel the need to double your recipe to fill the empty space. It is good to have the extra pudding, bananas and wafers on hand.</image:caption>

You cannot just use any vodka, liqueur or espresso - I promise it won’t taste the same. It may also not feel the same- for me, I do not have good reactions to cheap vodka. Iykyk. Vodka The recipe starts with 2 ounces of vodka. For the vodka, I prefer to use vanilla flavored vodka for the added flavor. I like Absolut Vanilla Vodka. If you do not have vanilla vodka, you can just use another good vodka. I like Tito’s- just don’t use anything cheap.</image:title>
